Turn-by-turn directions

The tour starts at the panorama panel at the fire department in Krummnußbaum and leads through the village. Afterwards the way leads on the asphalt road Krummnußbaum-Holzern until restaurant Renner. In Maria Steinbründl there is a small pilgrimage chapel which can be visited. Now the way leads via Eichberg until Sarling where you can have a rest in the restaurant „Donauhafen“. Further on the way leads along the Danube on cycle paths –sometimes traffic- until the main square in Ybbs. The renovated old part of town with its romantic courts, alleys and town houses is a special eye-catcher. Then the way leads upstream for a while past the oldest Danube power station Ybbs-Persenbeug. Visitors get exciting insights how energy production using hydropower works. On the cycle path via the Danube bridge the way leads to Persenbeug to the waterfront where this stage ends. At Persenbeug/Ybbs at the Danube the Strudengau turns into Nibelungengau.
